Watercolor: Portrait Theme in our classes

Discovering the art of portrait drawing is a fascinating artistic adventure. During our workshop at Levent Art, we will immerse ourselves in this captivating world, learning to master proportions, textures, contrasts, and, most importantly, the magic of volume through color and transparency.

Understanding facial proportions is crucial for creating realistic and expressive portraits. Together, we will closely examine the various facial features, from the nose to the eyes and the mouth, and learn how to arrange them harmoniously to capture likeness and emotion.

Managing textures and contrasts will add an artistic dimension to your portraits. You'll discover how to realistically render different surfaces such as skin, hair, and clothing, while playing with shadows and lights to create striking effects.

The magic of volume through color and transparency will be at the core of our artistic exploration. By using watercolors, you will learn to layer colors to bring the skin to life, create transparency effects for luminous eyes, and use color to sculpt the face, giving it a three-dimensional impression.

To inspire and guide you, here are some examples of watercolor artworks created during the workshop.
