My father's watercolors: transparency, light and color

The World of Watercolour: The Most Demanding Technique

My father is a passionate watercolour artist, and he has often explained to me why he considers this technique to be the most complex and demanding of all. For him, watercolour is an artistic discipline that challenges the limits of creativity, while tolerating no mistakes.

Watercolour is a technique that demands exceptional mastery, because unlike other mediums such as oil or acrylic, there is no room for repentance. Every brushstroke is irreversible, every drop of water and pigment must be precisely placed, because once it touches the paper, there is no turning back.

It is this absence of repentance that makes watercolour so complex. Every decision my father makes during the creative process is final, which means he has to be extremely concentrated and precise in his work. Every brushstroke, every colour mix and every addition of water must be carefully calculated to achieve the desired effect.

Watercolour also requires a thorough understanding of transparency and colour layering. Shades and tones are created by superimposing layers of delicate pigments, and it takes great artistic sensitivity to grasp the subtle interplay between colours.

Despite the challenges, my father deeply loves watercolor. He admires the way she captures light and transparency in a unique way. Each watercolor work is an artistic adventure, an exploration of the fragile beauty and fragility of technique. For him, it is this constant challenge that makes watercolor painting one of the most rewarding and complex art forms available. His love for watercolor is a source of inspiration for me and for everyone who appreciates the beauty of this demanding technique.
