Join us in the beautiful town of Apt, in the heart of the Luberon, at Villa 70 — a 1970s artistic house with a garden and pool — for an immersive experience that blends artistic learning, personal expression, and the joyful spirit of Matisse.
Whether you choose a full residency over 4 days or a 3-hour session, you’ll explore the foundations of Matisse’s creative language and develop your own interpretation through watercolor.

Workshop Content

Day 1 – Introduction to Watercolor

• Discover Matisse's influence on modern art

• Learn fundamental watercolor techniques

• Hands-on exercises to explore transparency, fluidity, and light

Day 2 – The Color Language of Matisse

• Explore Matisse’s iconic color palette

• Practice how color creates emotion and rhythm

• Create your first small piece inspired by Matisse’s principles

Day 3 – Composition à la Matisse

• Study the balance and simplicity of Matisse’s compositions

• Experiment with cut-out-inspired structures and fluid layout

• Create a personal composition based on these techniques

Day 4 – Freedom, Expression & Creation

• Explore your own artistic voice through Matisse’s approach

• Use everything you’ve learned to create a unique final piece

• Embrace boldness, color, and intuition in your painting

Package 2 — In-Residence

4 days & 3 nights of artistic immersion in a house with a garden and swimming pool
