Are you passionate about the art of composition and dream of mastering the art of creating unique pictorial spaces using stamps, wooden pieces and other shapes as a source of inspiration?

Join us for a unique course that will allow you to explore composition techniques, drawing inspiration from the work of many famous artists.


Course Content

Day 1 - Introduction to Artistic Composition
- Presentation of the basic concepts of artistic composition.
- Discovery of the importance of visual elements such as balance, rhythm and hierarchy in composition.
- First practical exercises to understand the principles of composition.


Day 2 - The Inspiration of the Great Masters
- Exploring the work of many famous artists, such as Picasso, Matisse, and Kandinsky, to understand their innovative use of composition.
- Practical exercises inspired by the techniques of these artists to create dynamic compositions.

Experimenting with Buffers and Counterforms
- Introduction to stamps, pieces of cardboard, linoleum, wood and other counter-shapes as composition tools.
- Exercises in creating unique patterns, textures and visual arrangements using these elements.
- Application of the concepts learned to compose expressive pictorial spaces.


Day 3 - Personal Creation and Group Critiques
- Encouragement of personal creativity using the techniques learned.
- Creation of a work of art based on the work of your favorite artist while adding your personal touch.
- Group critique sessions to discuss achievements, share ideas and progress collectively.

Useful information

- Location: Rustrel, in an artist residence, in a renovated country house, offering an environment conducive to creativity.
- Duration: 3 days (Wednesday to Friday)
- Level: Open to everyone, from beginners to experienced artists.
- Materials: Basic watercolor materials will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own supplies if you wish.
- The course includes demonstration sessions, discussions on the project, group critiques and moments of relaxation to enjoy the Luberon.

Price with accommodation: 1120 euros (all-inclusive: accommodation, full board and equipment: accommodation includes Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings)

Course dates: Wednesday 1 May, Thursday 2 May and Friday 3 May 2024 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a lunch break.
